ABOUT THE FOUNDER
American President Dwight D Eisenhower bestowed ‘Peace Message to the World’ award on 15-year-old Hassan Abdulla for distributing USIS library books among the students. He went to Holy Mecca in 1959, and was honoured as the youngest Amirul-Hajj by the Central Hajj Committee. Under his tutelage, the Saudi Arabian rulers began utilising the services of Scout volunteers during the Hajj season.
Hassan Haji joined JDT Islam Institutions in 1962 as an honorary manager.and served the institution as secretary until 1998. A visionary, who worked selflessly for the upliftment of orphans and destitute, began many educational institutions in India and abroad. He associated with various organizations, including the Indian Red Cross Society, National council of Child Welfare, Youth Hostels Association of India, Central and State Hajj Committees, as a member and office-bearer. He was a founder member of MES, MES Schools and ITC& AIMES. He served as the principal of JDT Islam Industrial Training Centre for 21 years and was also the co-ordinator of the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) for seven years. He was a co-ordinator for vocational courses conducted by the Lal Bahadur Shastri Centre for Science and Technology (LBS), IHRD, MHRD and UNICEF.
He attended the UN DPI / NGO conference for many years at United Nations,Newyork. He had also co-ordinated and attended various national and international conferences across the globe. He received many international and national awards for child welfare and social services.
He took the initiative in setting up a self-financing Polytechnic at JDT which reserved seats for the orphans and physically challenged students. He played key roles in establishing the MES Engineering College in Kuttippuram, Iqra International Hospital in Calicut and Century Dental College in Kasargod.
